On Wednesday 11 March, Suicide Prevention Australia joined with the Black Dog Institute, Wesley Mission LifeForce, LGBTI Health Alliance, Australian Defence Force Centre for Mental Health, and Quality Innovation Performance Limited for the second in a series of consultations to develop the Quality Improvement Program.
The Quality Improvement Program developed by Suicide Prevention Australia, in collaboration with Quality Innovation Performance Limited (QIP) and the suicide prevention sector, is a national accreditation program to enrich the quality, effectiveness and fidelity of suicide prevention programs in Australia.
A series of consultations with the suicide prevention sector was initiated by Suicide Prevention Australia to develop a fit-for-purpose Quality Improvement Program.
This has led to the development of a self-directed Quality Improvement Program, where programs can be delivered to standards of quality and effectiveness through a process of self-assessment leading onto certification and accreditation.
The Quality Improvement Program is designed to support the suicide prevention sector, and offer providers the benefit of placing their programs on a self-directed accreditation quality program which is useful, purposeful, user-friendly and relevant to their needs. Providers of suicide prevention programs, at different stages of implementation or maturity, can partake in a program that will provide shared measures on safety, quality and impact.
