Taxis
Taxis in Canberra operate under 2 pricing structures for hiring a cab. From 6.00am until 9.00pm on a day other than Saturday, Sunday or a public holiday, the rate is $2.06/kilometre. From 9.00pm until 6.00am on a Monday to Friday and all day Saturday, Sunday or a public holiday the rate is $2.37/kilometre. The flagfall is $5.00.
You can monitor the drive by checking the taxi meter, which should be displayed at the front of the taxi. Please check the meter is set correctly when you begin your journey.
Note: Flagfall and fare rates are higher for taxis that can carry 5 or more passengers. Also, for journeys commencing at the Canberra airport, there is a $4.20 toll fee.

Buses
Canberra’s ACTION Buses service major tourist sites and their regular service routes link the city to the outer suburbs. The ACTION Buses include easy-access buses for people with reduced mobility. Bus fares use the MyWay smartcard prepaid ticketing system or cash.
